Swamis Surfing Association cordially invites you to participate in
the 14th Annual Swamis Club Challenge; a competition that features
some of the world’s best longboard surfers journeying from all
points of the globe to perform and compete.
All
clubs involved in this club event will share the task of supporting
the cause for a clean ocean. It is through the Coalition of Surf Clubs
that the general public is able to address and resolve issues regarding
the state of our oceans.
The
14th annual Swami’s Contest, designated as a Coalition of Surfing
Clubs Event, will be on Saturday & Sunday, October 8-9th
2005. Twelve plus teams will be entered into the contest,
starting at 6:45 am on Saturday. Competitors will
be able to surf both shortboard and longboard.
The
two-day event will be held at Cardiff Reef in California.
There will be a paddle race, a Saturday evening surf party, and a
tandem event. Also, there will be a junior (17 & under) shortboard
contest held adjacent and concurrent to the longboard contest. New
events this year have been added to the contest: Groms (10 & under),
Womens shortboard, Open and Masters Shortboard. These new events will
also be held concurrently to the Longboard Event. There will also
be a terrific raffle including surfboards, wetsuits, clothing, and
surfing accessories.
Since
1964, the Swami’s Surfing Association has been involved in programs
to preserve our coastal resources and to promote the sport of surfing.
We are dedicated to community service and some of its activities include
providing days at the beach for the sight impaired and for abused
and neglected children. The club has also been involved with several
organizations such as the Surfrider Foundation, Police Athletic League
and with programs such as Adopt-a-Beach. Furthermore, we have been
and will continue to be active with local government especially when
it comes to issues that involve our beaches.
